ARRRRRRRRRRGGGH!

I am so frustrated and annoyed right now as I've spent the best part of almost 6 hours messing about with my blog layout trying to downloads a 3 column template and have had nothing with trouble with it.

If it wasn't the header refusing to change itself, it was the text aligment of my posts that were out of sync, then it was my sidebar pictures that were uploading in odd sizes (I'm STILL trying to sort that out now).

In the end I had to admit defeat and g0 back to my original layout.

I've abandoned my original idea of getting somebody to redesign my blog - I can't be bothered and it's proving to be too much headache actually getting somebody to design what I want which isn't the hardest thing in the world.

I don't wanna move to Wordpress as the layouts aren't my thing.

How friggin hard is it to find a 3 coloumn minima black blog template that works?!! I need to step away from the keyboard cos I'm ready to smash it! I'm amazed that I've managed to get through this blog post without swearing once!

NOT AMUSED. WHOLE EVENING WASTED. I HATE BLOGGER TONIGHT!

Hi hun, I made up a dummy blog with another email address so that I could practice for when I want to change my blog to three column. I was testing with the black and pink minimas from here:

http://webtalks.blogspot.com/2007/04/downlaod-three-column-new-blogger.html

And they did work but they delete all your widgets and stuff so you'd have to re-add them.

I just right-clicked on the names. 'Saved targets as' on to the laptop. Then go to the edit template section on your dashboard and upload the file.

I think it made the side pictures go funny sizes aswell actually but i just get deleting things and re-adding til it worked.

Trial and error basically. Although I can see it taking A VERY LONG time when it comes to me doing it for real! I wish blogger just had a 3-column option from the start! x

Where did you find that picture of Leila?

Sorry you had a shitty and frustrating evening on the blog. Mine keeps playing up something chronic too. Doesn't wordpress have like every theme under the sun though? It's one of the *original* blog systems.

@ Lipstick Rules - Then you'll know exactly how I'm feeling! Grrr.

@ Lu - I downloaded that template already. I couldn't change the text alignment of my posts and I couldn't customise the text colours by adding different html codes other than the options on blogger - which I CAN do on my original template. Thanks hon.

@ Vixann - Email them to me at Vexinthecity@gmail.com - I may have tried them all at some point this evening though. Thank you, I appreciate you looking for me.

@ Lipglossiping - You had me worried that I'd accidentally stumbled upon your bubba online! I really haven't looked at Wordpress in that much detail tbh. I have an account on there but I haven't looked at all possible layouts but the few (like first 5) I saw looked crap. Would I be able to add my pics on there? Hmm maybe I'll have another look at it - not for a while though, my head hurts now!!

@ Sar - Thanks hon. I think I'll have another go in about a week. My head will explode if I try again too soon!

I also had trouble with downloading 3 columns. So I searched the net untill I found a guide which gave me step by step instructions to change the HMTL of the minima layout myself. And it was sooo easy, just had to follow the post and delete things it told me too and add a few new things... but sadly I didn't save the site :( once I was done I closed it down and didn't think to save it to help anyone else.. which now I regret :(

I got my template by typing in "free blogger templates" into Google and it was the first link.

They have tons of nice designs and it's easy to install them, they have fluid coloumns and fixed coloums, three cols, two cols etc..

Have a look.

Babe, I know exactly how you feel. I have been there and done that with the three column template. I had it for about a New York minute but I could not fit my header in so after a few days of fighting I abandoned it and went back to the two column template. I also thought about going over to Wordpress but I didn't like their templates either.

Someone from Blogger please design a three column template that allows us to have a nice fat header!!!

Great minds think alike. I have just been exploring the free templates with 3 colomns. found the perfect one but.... it got too technical with needing to host the image elsewhere. i am sure one of the basic blogger templates has 3 colomns that you could tweak . anyway good luck

bummer :( I like your blog layout though if it makes you feel any better!

love the picture you used in this post hehe cracked me up :)

Thanks for all your comments and links, they've been really helpful. I've decided to sick with 2 columns but I'll change the header at some point to the original idea I've had swimming round my head for the best part of 6 months I just need to find a designer who can do it exactly how I want.

I was going to tell you that I had found the html coding to change minima to 3 columns, but when I had everything set up it was just too cluttered. I did the same and went right back to 2 columns. It is easier on the eyes

Have you had a look at this website? http://www.blogdoctor.me/ I used it to change my blog to three columns - without uploading a new template and deleting my widgets etc - yesterday. Answers practically any question you might have about Blogger templates, it's ace!

I think I might go back to two columns though, I think Get Lippie is looking a bit too cluttered as a result ...

VexInTheCity said...

@ Mz More - Yeah that's why I've decided to stick with 2 columns. I don't want it to look too cluttered cos I have a lot of widgets, images etc

@ Luce - Yep I had a good look at that site the day I attempted to change it. I don't think your blog looks cluttered cos you don't have loads of widgets/icons running down either side.
