My MAC eyeshadow palettes

Monday, August 31, 2009

In January the increasing pots of MAC eyeshadows I owned finally got on my last nerve and I decided to depot them. Preparing to depot was like a military operation for me. I read up on methods on Specktra, watched videos on You Tube and decided that the the hair straightener method was the easiest and required the least apparatus.

I bought palettes, empty eye shadow pans for when I pressed pigments, magnets and alcohol to clean the glue off the pans. I bought a Dymo labelmaker which I got for about £12 off Ebay and it came with 2 extra rolls of tape. I was lucky I managed to get such a good deal as I watched about 6 auctions end with people paying double and not even getting any tape!

I actually get a kick of pleasure every time I depot an eye shadow. Maybe it's cos I know I'm heading towards another freebie with the Back To MAC Program. I can depot with my eyes shut. I love it!

So this is how I've arranged my eyeshadows. I currently have 5 palettes and they're divided into Neutrals, Neutrals/Greys/Blacks, Blues/Greens, Pinks/Purples and Brights.

I have Meet The Fleet to add to my blue palette after buying it at The CCO yesterday and Moth Brown (yep, I managed to get hold of one a few weeks ago) to add to my second neutrals palette but that's sitting at my boyfriends so I'll be bringing that home after I go to visit him in September.

Do you depot your shadows or do you prefer them in their pots? I know some people don't like to depot their LE ones but I don't mind B2M'ing mine.

I'll never depot my blushes though ..that's a no-no for me ;-)

High street fashion haulage

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Having my local high street a 2 min walk away from my hse and working 15 mins away has its benefits. I've acquired this little lot by popping into shops on my way home after work as I manage to catch them before they close for the evening.

I bought these tops from H&M

It has ruching down the front on the sides which you can't tell from the pic

Slouchy off the shoulder tiger print sequin top

Batwing oversized top with bright gold sequin detail on the shoulders

I've been lusting after this Topshop necklace for about a month after spotting it in silver in this blog post by Fashion Hedonism (this girls style is on fiiiiiiiiiiiiyah). I was hoping to find it instore as I have a £20 Arcadia voucher sitting in my wallet but I had to relent and order it online in the end.

In true Leo style I couldn't decide whether to get it in silver or gold - so I just ordered both!

Same goes for these suede-look shoes from New Look. They were a steal at £20 and I've been after a pair of 'Cadbury Purple' courts for aaaaaaaages and the shade of this purple is perfect (it's much brighter in reality). I figure they'll be cool to wear to work and play so I snatched them up in black too.

Only problem is they squeak like crazy! They were fine when I wore them around the house the first time but now when I try them on, they squeak. How can I get them to stop?? I really don't want to take them back but I'm not walking around London sounding like Sweep (of Sooty and Sweep fame)!

Any suggestions on how to make them stop squeaking? I've googled but the suggestions seem to be for leather shoes.

Thank you :-)

I'm really glad you enjoy my blog, it takes up so much of my spare time these days so it's good to know my efforts are appreciated.

In order to pass on this tag, I need to select 12 of my fave blogs. 12?!! I follow more than 10 times as many that on Google reader so this isn't really reflective as I enjoy loads more than 12!

Review: Quash moisturising hand sanitizer

Saturday, August 29, 2009

When I asked to try this, I jumped at the chance, as I'd misplaced my Carex anti-bacterial hand gel a few days earlier and was planning on buying another the next day. I'm the person who furiously wipes down a telephone or keyboard at work with anti-bacterial wipes before using it and would rather fall over than touch the escalator rail on the underground so this was the perfect product for me to test.

I wasn't really expecting to be particularly wowed by it, it's only an anti-bacterial spray after all Quash is clinically proven to kill 99.9% of gems - including MRSA, Salmonella and E-coli. It also claims to help protect you against the Swine Flu virus. Id love to say I'll report back on whether the last claim is true but I'm not planning on catching Swine Flu any time soon in order to update a blog post!

It's 100% natural, free of parabens and has also been proven to moisturise skin and protect hands from accelerated skin ageing and roughness. Now this I can comment on as it really is moisturising, whereas the Carex hand gel that I've been using for the past year isn't. Quash isn't a gel, it's a spray which I prefer and it's not 'wet' in the sense that after you've rubbed your hands together you then have to wait a few additional seconds for it to evaporate and dry.

I was a bit skeptical about it being able to leave my hands feeling soft but it really does and you feel this benefit instantly. I purposely skipped hand cream on returning from the bathroom for the first few days I used it to see whether my hands would dry out after using Quash and they didn't. So if you're in a rush and don't have time to whip out your hand cream you don't have to worry about the skin on your hands feeling tight.

It comes in a bright green tube, in two sizes and is easy to spot amongst the crap in your handbag. I've also been testing it out on work colleagues who have to deal with members of the public and handle numerous documents which have been passed from pillar to post and they've all liked it. I'll definitely be repurchasing this.

In fact I'm buying a couple for my boyf to use as he is terrible for unnecessarily grabbing hold of railings, etc in public and gets slapped at least 10 times a day from me whenever I see him touching what doesn't need to be touched!

Price £1.99 (15ml) £3.49 (50ml) Where can I find it? Superdrug, Holland & Barretts, WHSmith travel stores, selected Tesco and pharmacies.

Order from the official Quash site and receive free delivery. Uk delivery only.

Meet Gina!

Friday, August 28, 2009

Since starting my new job a month ago I have managed to ignore the fact that Space NK is a 30 second walk away from my workplace. Every morning I get off the bus and it's right in front of me but I ignore it and walk the short distance to work. I'd walked past it at lunchtime day after day without so much as looking through the window ...until Wednesaday.

I popped in and had a play at the NARS display and noticed a blush that I'd pretty much ignored every time I'd been at a NARS counter ..Gina.

Excuse the crap pic - I'll try and replace it tomorrow.

Gina is a true matte peach shade and I ummed and ahhed about buying her for a full 48 hours until I succumbed today at lunchtime and I have no regrets. I don't own a matte peach shade and it's luuurvely! I was so impressed by the swatch on my hand in store that as soon as I got back to work I put it on. Luckily I was wearing MAC Eversun blush today so it complimented it perfectly. Although it's a matte finish, it's not dull, in fact there's an obvious sheen to it that I can see when it's swatched on my hand to give you a "glow" which I love. The finish isn't chalky like some matte blushes can be.

Ok, if I had looked hard enough then I may have been able to find a cheaper alternative but my general feeling with Nars blushes is you get what you pay for in terms of quality, the size of the blush pan is adequate enough and they last all day without wearing off erm, yeah that's my justification for my 2nd NARS blush purchase in 2 weeks!

Gina will be joining her siblings so she won't be lonely :-)

Gotcha! MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

Friday, August 28, 2009

I don't know what I was doing when this was released last year, but I obviously didn't make my way to a MAC counter to buy Volcanic Ash Exfoliator the first time round when it was released with the Future Earth collection last Summer. I really wasn't into LE collections at all back then so turned a blind eye at the time.

I've read so much about this exfoliator that when I saw it being sold on Specktra over the weekend I had to snap it up. I went to pick it up from the sorting office before work this morning as I missed the delivery yesterday and there was no way I was waiting until Tuesday (after the Bank Holiday weekend) to get this.

So here it is, one of the most talked about skincare products that MAC has released. If you didn't know this is to be re-released with Style Black and I'll be testing this starting tonight to see if it really lives up to the hype and if it makes a difference to my skin.

I don't know what to expect but first impressions are that it stinks to high heaven and is really gloopy, like tar and looks like lava - hence the name I guess! It doesn't look like the kind of product you want to smear all over your face to be honest and this is definately a product I'll be using in the shower as opposed to in the sink cos I can tell it'll make a mess!

MAC instruct that a small a amount be smoothed evenly over clean, moist skin and that it be washed off with warm water. Usage is recommended 1-3 times a week. This doubles up as a body exfoliator too which is handy.

It kind of reminds me of Origins Modern Friction but I may change my mind once I have it in my hand and can feel the texture properly and then feel it against my facial skin. Apparently it has sugar granules in it

Who bought this last Summer and what do you think of it? Will you be repurchasing when Style Black is released or buying for the first time? Or do you already use an exfoliator that ticks all your boxes and will skip this product altogether?

I can't wait to wash my face tonight! I'll report back next weekend with an update.

Blog award/tag

Friday, August 28, 2009

My online buddy from way back, Sadie, writer of Butterfly Wings and Heather of Sparkles and Lipgloss have both given me this blog award! Cool - thanks girls! I really appreciate the comments and love hearing that people enjoy reading my blog :-) Sorry it took so long to post I just haven't been able to find the time to do it!!

The rules with this award are:

1) List 5 current obsessions
2) Pass the award on to 5 fabulous blogs
3) Mention the person who tagged you and post their blog link
4) Post links to the 5 winners and let them know!

Hmmm my 5 current obsessions are:

1. Ebay
I'm known as the Ebay Queen - and there's a good reason why. You name it, I've bought it at some point off Ebay. I've used it for years now and have searching for items down to a T. I always manage to get fab bargains on there. Over the past few weeks I've been bidding (and winning) far too much.

2. Designer bags
I've having a handbag clear out at the moment and want to invest in a couple more designer handbags as from experience the quality tends to be better (if you pick teh right one) and if you pick a classic style, it'll take you from season to season and won't date, making your money go a lot further. I really need a new black bag and have been searching for weeks and changing my mind on an almost daily basis.
I've finally decided to get this Marc by Marc Jacobs bag when I go to NY in a couple of weeks though.

Size-wise I think it's just right for daily use as my main work bag. I need to go and take a look at it in Selfridges just to make sure but I'm pretty certain this baby will be coming home with me.

3. Candles/home fragrance oils
I love the smell of vanilla and coconut and find it really relaxing having candles and my oil burner all going at the same time. My bedroom smells divine.

4. Nail Polish
A work colleague wore a wicked shade of shocking orange earlier this week and I've been bugging her to tell me the name of the shade ever since. She finally told me today and OPI In My Back Pocket shall be purchased shortly!

5. Skincare
My skin's been acting up for the past few weeks so I've really upped my skincare. I've noticed a slight improvement so my perseverance has paid off.

I'm twisting the rules and am I'm tagging any readers who haven't yet done this tag and would like to, instead of just picking 5 - so there!

Naked giveaway winner :-)

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Thank you to everybody who entered my Naked giveaway. I had a couple of late entries that I had to delete aswell as one entry that didn't type the required sentence or give me their email addy so I couldn't count that either.

Initially I used but then noticed that it included the same no twice and totally missed others out so that was scrapped and I just wrote down all the numbers on a sheet of paper, cut it into squares and drew a winner from an empty handbag instead!

The winner is Jen of Beauty and the Housewife. Well done and I'll be shooting you an email asking for addy details!

Keep an eye out for my main giveaway which will be taking place when I get back from NY next month. Lots of goodies (and the rest) will be up for grabs for a number of my fabulous blog readers so keep checking my blog so you don't miss out!

Thanks again lovelies xxx

*Gasps* Come to Mama! - New Illamasqua liquid metal

Monday, August 24, 2009

I love my Illamasqua liquid metal in Solstice, plan on getting Enrapture at some point and am stupidly excited for the latest shade Phenomena, which is to be released with their new collection Dystophia.

Described a s "pure molten silver", Phenomena was given to Lily Allen's make up artist and she was papped rocking this (ridiculous) look the next day. Sorry, I'm not a fan of hers, so don't expect any fawning. Lady Gaga she is not and she gets on my last damn nerve!

Pale skinned beauties can get a good idea of how it'll look on their skintone from her pic though. I'll be rocking this with a dark blue e/s to start off with methinks.

It will be available to pre-order online, along with the rest of the collection from September 3rd.

What do you think? Yay or nay?

The weeks additions ...

Sunday, August 23, 2009

I was waiting for a few things to arrive when I did my last 'haulage' post a few days ago, so I haven't spent loads this week. I've pretty much got about 90% of what I want from MAC's perm products and shades, so have been on a mission to track down LE items that I've either wanted forever but had totally missed or failed to get first time round when I had the chance to.

I struck lucky last Sunday night when I had a peek at the Europe sale and swap forum on Specktra and noticed a UK seller was selling MAC C-Shock eyeshadows really cheap. I thought they'd be long gone when I enquired as her sales list had been up for a few hours before I'd spotted it but I got them! I remember just how hard it was for me to track down Fancy Ray blushcreme and Going Bananas e/s from the same collection but I got them both in the end - though it took months!

I got a few bits from this seller as her prices were great.

MAC e/s in Romping (C-Shock) - Finally! This has been on my wishlist for an age!
MAC e/s in Wondergrass (C-Shock)
- And so has this!
BN MAC Devil blush (Manish Arora)
- A gorgeous reddy orange blush which is just "wow". it only cost me £5!
BNIB Antique Gold Glitter -
That's my face sorted for Christmas! LOL
MAC lipglass in Gold Rebel (Style Warriors)
- I regretted not getting this first time round so snapped it up when I saw it listed.

I got this lot for under £30 - bargain!

I also bought from another seller:

MAC e/s pan in Jewel Blue (oops I've noticed I've named it the other way round in the swatch pic).

I don't know what I've done with the glitter since I took the 'group photo'. I've been writing up this blog post on/of all day and it's gone walkies at some point and I can't find it! I'll have a look for it later today and include a swatch pic when I do.

After The Body Shop event on Thursday, a small group of us piled into Liberty and had a smooch around the beauty counters. Miss Virtue has been bugging me for well over a year to get Nars blush in Mounia and I've always come up with an excuse not to buy it. I swatched it earlier in the day in Selfridges and kept glancing at the swatch on my hand as the day went on so took the opportunity to buy it when we ended up in Liberty and I'm glad I did, it's gorgeous and is described on the Nars site as a cinnamon coral. It's really flattering on my skintone and I'm glad it's now in my blusher collection.

I also took a look at NARS new collection, Lolita. Mekong, a rich chocolate brown eyeshadow with gold specks swas the stand out product for me. It's a darker version of Galapagos if you're clued up on your NARS. It's so smooth to apply. I've read it's prone to smudging though which is a bummer. I'll have to see if that happens when I wear it for a full day.

Finally, an essential purchase made on Friday was Botanics eye make up remover as I'd run out and ordinary cleanser just wasn't cutting it on my mascara. I love this stuff. Unfortunately it was no longer on offer when I went to Boots but whatever, it's still cheap and I've saved money elsewhere so it didn't matter.

Are you always on the hunt for LE items or are you happy to make do with permanent shades?

The Body Shop beauty bloggers event - 20th August (and discount code)

Friday, August 21, 2009

Yeah ok, I'm late in posting this (by a whole 24 hours!!) and most of (if not all) the UK beauty bloggers know about this already so are excused from reading about it yet again but I did go, so I how can I not blog about it!

I went to my first beauty bloggers event *big grin* yesterday afternoon and it was hosted by The Body Shop in Sketch, a super cool, bar/restaurant which is often frequented by the odd celebrity or two in Central London.

Annoyingly I had to go to a meeting at work in the morning and made a mash dash across London which was hampered first by an emergency cord being pulled on the tube (at this point, I had 20 mins to get there and flew out of the carriage to catch a bus from Euston station), and then by my bus zooming past the bus stop I was due to get off cos of roadworks - so arrived all dishevelled and hot! Great start ...

I still managed to get there bang on time though and upon arrival I was directed to a cosy back room where everybody had already gathered and were chatting amongst themselves. We were treated to a never ending supply of champagne along with sandwiches and scones and kicked back on swish white leather sofas to listen to a brief introductory presentation about the company, its values and its most popular products. I'd actually forgotten that TBS founder Anita Roddick passed away 2 years ago until it was mentioned.

The Body Shop is a brand I first used aged 11 at school when their lip balms were the lip balms to be seen with! I loved those!! Oh the memories of 1992 (God Lord I'm showing my age now). I remember how their fruit shaped soaps, bath pearls (do they still sell those??! Hmm I doubt it ...) and shower gels were always first choice for Christmas gifts during my school days.

In all honesty as the years went by and their prices went up, I shied away from their products - even my beloved coconut body butter I scour for on Ebay to see if its cheaper there rather than go instore (I have a branch 5 mins from my hse) first. As a result I'm not really aware of the products they're offering these days, so I was genuinely interested in what

Anyhoo after the 'brand chat', we were introduced to make up artist Chase Ashton, who demonstrated two make up looks using products from their latest make up range, Precious Pearlescents.

Laura volunteered to be Chase's canvas for a neutral smoky eyed look ....

and a rather glam looking model was the face of the 80s look that Chase created.

As well as being told about their new perfume Love Etc we were also taken to a nearby branch to play with products and get samples of products of our choice which added an interactive element to it. I felt like I was on a school trip as we all trundled down Regent Street to the branch in question. I could see Londoners and tourists alike looking at us curiously wondering what the hell was going on! I was praying I wouldn't bump into somebody I knew would have been too taxing on the brain trying to explain the concept of beauty blogging and the rest on a packed Regent Street! LOL

We were also given a Love Your Body loyalty card which usually costs £5. It gives you 10% off every purchase you make, birthday discounts and an array of other membership privileges. I used to have the old card a few years back and amassed quite a few stamps on it butI didn't claim what I was entitled to back then and then the scheme was scrapped without warning.

It was nice, yet surreal meeting so many bloggers, as passionate and obsessed with all things beauty as I am. It was cool recognising (or in my case, not!) people from their Twitter and blog pics too. At one point I was playing 'Name that blogger' in my head!

Unfortunately, I have no gossip and everybody I spoke to was genuinely lovely! ;-)

Ok, so what you really wanna know is what I bought home with me right? Prior to the event we were asked to supply our skin type so that the skincare products we received would be compatible, so I got a couple of the same products I got from TBS for my b'day. I'm really pleased about getting another bottle of the toner cos I was planning on purchasing that again anyway.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of the lipstick shades, they're sheer so should be easy to work with.

The goody bag contents - I'm missing a pencil in the photo which was found lying on my bed after the shot was taken. Don't ya hate it when that happens?!

Monday Poll - done on Wednesday instead!

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Taken from Karen's blog ...this weeks poll struck a chord with me so I decided to do it.

Mood: Mentally I 'm fine. I have a cold though and am exhausted by all the sneezing and nose-blowing I've been doing. I'm also annoyed that I have to wait another week to get my hair done as my hairdresser can't squeeze me in til then (she comes to me) and my regrowth is mocking my life!!

How many times have you been in love?: Real love? Twice ♥

Do you prefer cream or powder blush?: Hmmm I have more powder than creams but am happy using both.

Were you a good student?: Yeah I think so. I kicked ass at English, History, German and PE and was on the school sports team. I hated maths though!

Eyes / Lips / Cheeks: Nada - have just washed my face free of the days grime. My skin's taking the piss at the moment and is breaking out for the sheer fun of it. Not impressed.

How do you feel about camping?: Urgh! No thanks. That is my idea of hell on earth. I'm still scarred by the overnight camping nonsense I was forced to do aged 12 at school in Devon. I'd whinge non-stop if I were made to do it now. I'm a city girl through and through!

Are you happy?: Hmm yeah - lots of things are making me happy at the moment. There are a couple of niggly things but they're not the end of the world. Things could be much, much worse so I'm thankful for my blessings.

Do long distance relationships work?: Well I'm in one and it's hard at times but I think I cope well considering. We won't be in this situation forever and constantly talk about our plans for the future so that's what keeps us going. The end is nigh. This is the first time I've been in a LDR and I didn't know what to expect. I have 3 friends (one being my best friend) who are also in LDRs so we support one another when it gets tough. I do find I'm even more private than usual in this r'ship as I'm sick of having to explain myself to some people who insist on asking silly questions once they find out Richaud's not here. I'm not the first person to have a LDR and won't be the last. I don't get what all the fuss is about *shrugs*

Outfit: Boyf's t-shirt.

Weekly goals: Keep drinking lots of water, shake off this cold and buy the beauty products on the list my Mum gave me for her 3 weeks ago! Oops!

My last 'haulage' post ...

Saturday, August 15, 2009

..until MakeUp Art Cosmetics is released! Hehehe!

The postman was good to me this morning and bought:

MAC lipglass in Pink Poodle
MAC Off The Page e/s (Makeup Art Cosmetics)
MAC lipstick Sharp Focus (MAC HD collection)
MAC lipstick in Lollipop Loving (Heatherette)
GOSH crystal eyes eye pencil in Sparkling Gold

I love Off The Page e/s. I'm gonna have fun using this with browns and gold. I was surprised at how much colour Sharp Focus has considering it's a lustre lipstick. My natural lip colour is very pink so lustre lippies are often lost on me unless I fill them in, with liner beforehand.

I was given the Ruby & Millie pencil as a freebie with the MAC stuff and it's so cool and gadgety. I don't own any Ruby & Millie stuff other than a free smudge brush I got with a magazine yeaaars ago! It has screw tops on either side and the colour (blue and silver on opposite ends) is loaded on a smudge brush and is released when pushed onto the skin. It's quite pigmented with no base so I can imagine how vibrant it'll look with primer under it.

I forgot to swatch Pink Poodle ..Hmm I'll use it in a future FOTD.

I've so much to experiment and play with. I'm gonna try and squeeze in more FOTDs to share. I'm no expert in MU application but nevertheless it's fun making up new looks.

Bargain beauty buys

Thursday, August 13, 2009

There's nothing like that feeling of elation when you finally track down either LE items or perm products that you've been unable track down anywhere! It's even better when you get them for really good prices.

I managed to accumulate this little lot from forum and blog sales and good old Ebay. I know a lot of people are dubious about buying make up off Ebay but I rally rate it for tracking down current and past high street items for prices way below RRP. You can find some fab stuff - I always do!

So what have I acquired this time?

Rubenesque paint pot - My first paint pot and I got it for about £4 from a seller on Specktra. This has been on my wishlist for a while so I'm glad I got such a great deal?

Also from the same seller I got the following - her prices were so cheap. I was lucky to stumble upon her thread and get this lot before other people did.

MAC kohl power pencil in Feline - Yeah I know this is being re-released with Style Black but I got it for £4 and it had never been sharpened, so helloooo! I used it last night when I popped out for a few hrs and it slid on so easily. I was waiting for it to smudge but it didn't. I guess that would all change in really warm weather though. It's so black - love it.

MAC lipglass in Frozen Dream - again, another wishlist item that's finally mine.

MAC lipstick in 3N (forgot to include it in the picture) - Finally!! GOTCHA!

L'oreal Colour Riche lipstick in Dune (240) - The Gloss Post recommended this as a great nude for NC45's and up, so I did a quick search on Ebay and there it was for £3 BIN so I snapped it up. This nude will suit everybody, black, white, asian - whatever! It's is a lovely lustre light beige with gold shimmer. It looks great with clear gloss over the top. I bought a backup off Ebay as soon as I tested it on its arrival.

Nails In polish in Jermyn Street - My NOTW freebie.

Mac blush in Plum De Bois - I tried to get this LE blush at MAC last Dec but they were all sold out. I managed to get it BNIB for £8 off a forum sale :-)

MAC e/s in Saddle - The Pro store had sold out when I tried to get it a few wks ago and as some of you may know, this is now discontinued. I found it on Ebay and it's mine. My neutral e/s palette is now complete.

Sleek eye dust dust in Fantasy (681) - I have a couple of these and this purple caught my eye the other day in Superdrug and came home with me.

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Ever So Rich - another blog sale bargain and companion for my beloved MAC Lavender Whip lipstick.

GOSH Extreme Art eye liner in 13 (Gold) - You know I love these so when I saw the gold one on Ebay for £1.99 that was immediately added to my watch list! I haven't opened it up yet but am confident I'll love it.

I've recently bought more make up than I now know what to do with but my addictive personality appears to have reared its ugly head again. I am however, very pleased that I can finally tick off a few more LE items off my wishlist spreadsheet ( LOL I must show this in a blog post one day).

Do you scour the Specktra sales forum for bargains or snap up last minute beauty bargains on Ebay?

I've got tagged! Every pic tells a story :-)

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I was tagged by Aziajs to do this who some of you may recognise off Specktra - her MU skillz are on fiiiiiiiiyah!
  • Open your first photo folder
  • Sroll down to the 10th photo
  • Post that photo and story on your blog.
  • Tag five others (or more) friends to do the same.
Here's my 10th pic:

I have a folder with lots of tattoo inspiration pics and I've decided that I want 2 butterflies in this colourway on my inner wrist (not as big though). I think the detail is gorgeous. I actually know somebody who has the same tattoo design that I want to get and it was helpful seeing how the design looked on her as a preview but luckily we don't roll in the same social circles and it was merely a coincidence that she got the same design I want to get first so I don't mind.

Mine will still look totally different when it's finished and be a different colour so it'll still be unique to me.

It'll probably really hurt when I get it done but what the hell, it can't hurt any worse than my first tattoo did. Hopefully I'll get it done in October as to spend more time in NY if possible. My parents still haven't seen my first tat either. My Dad won't really mind but my Mum will freak the hell out! LOL

I tag all my readers to complete this post :-)

A girl can never have too many shoes!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

The latest pair of shoes to join my collection arrived were in the hallway waiting to greet me when I got home yesterday evening.

I liked the look of these when I saw them on the Faith site a couple of months ago and then in person instore as I love all things taupe and wanted a pair of A/W heels that wouldn't look out of place if I were going out for a few drinks and didn't wanna dress up to the nines.

I actually had to order a size 9 as the 8's were old out and they fit okay. I'm a bit worried that the elastic around the heel may stretch as time goes on though as they're not as snug as a size 8 would have been on my feet and the last thing I need is them trying to fly off my feet mid-step or causing me to trip over! The things we do for shoes eh? *sighs*

Anyhoo the best bit is that they were on sale for £35. I had a feeling they'd go on sale so I'm glad I waited.

I plan on wearing them with black skinnies, and a 3/4 length sleeve leather jacket (which is yet to be found and purchased, or if that fails customised). I'd wear an outfit similar to the one I created on Polyvore which took me TOO damn long to do and still turned out crap! I really do give up on on that program for the timebeing. It drives me up the wall!!

Nail polish of the week - Nails Inc Jermyn Street

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Along with half of the UK, I secured a free Nails Inc nail polish which the News Of The World were giving away in their Sunday women's supplement magazine.

I chose Jermyn Street as I like the look of taupe taupe nail polish shade wanted a companion for Orly's Country Club Khaki which I really like and in comparison is a bit lighter.

This is the first time I've used a Nails Inc polish an I'm very impressed with the quality. It went on like a dream and was nice and shiny when it dried. I'm pleased with my choice, it kinda has a lilacy undertone to it when hit by direct sunlight and is quite an unusual colour.

What did you pick as your freebie shade?

Showing some love!

Sunday, August 09, 2009

Wow, it's the 9th of August already and July was a busy (not to mention expensive) month for me beauty-wise. Here are some of the products that made an impression on me over the past month.

MAC # 226 brush

Mac # 226 brush

Re-promoted with the Colour Craft collection after first making an appearance with the Blonde, Brunette and Redhead (BBR) collection in January, I finally succumbed to the hype and bought this - and boy am I glad I did! This brush makes crease work and blending so easy, I love it so much and treat it as if it were my first newborn. The last time I got this excited over a brush was when I got my #182. It's sold out now but if you come across it on Ebay, in a blog sale (doubtful, but you never know!) or elsewhere - grab it!!

GOSH Extreme Art eye liners

GOSH Extreme Art eye liner in 07 (black)

This waterproof liquid liner doesn NOT budge which is great me as my hooded eyes transfer liner to my browbone all the time which is really annoying. I don't have this problem with this liner at all. My application could do with a bit of practise as hand always wobbles but the super thin brush is perfect for getting a defined line and the bristles don't begin to fray after you've used on a regular basis. I'm a big fan of the GOSH Art Extreme waterproof liners. They come in a range of colours from peacock green to bright gold.

L'oreal Voluminous mascara in Carbon Black

L'oreal Voluminous mascara in Carbon Black

I bought this when I was visiting hubby in May and I've been using it a lot lately. If you want thick black, black lashes then this is the high street mascara you've been looking for. It really lives up to its name and gives your lashes fantastic VOLUME. I like the fact that my lashes aren't brittle to touch once its dried too as I hate spidery lashes. It makes my eyes look very dramatic and quite sultry as my lashes look so black. You can really see the difference in colour in comparison to my other mascara fave Chanel Inimitable. I'm very impressed with it and will definitely repurchase as this is the only mascara I've tried that has lived up to its claim as being really black.

Botanics soothing eye make up remover

Boots Botanics Soothing Eye Make Up Remover
I wish I'd discovered this sooner. I've been using this since March and this is the only make up remover I'll be buying from now on. It being recommended so much on a beauty forum I used to frequent but I was hooked on Clinique Take Off The Day make up remover. I finally bought it when my beloved Clinique Take The Day off had run out and haven't looked back since. It's £'s cheaper than the Clinique and does just as good a job and is less oily - result! It allows me to remove my makeup (including waterproof), quickly and thoroughly without disturbing the skin around the delicate eye area which is important to me cos I am paranoid about ageing at the moment! My bottle has almost run out and I'm hoping Boots do a 3 for 2 on the Botanics range so I can stock up!
