Mehron Celebre Pro-HD Foundation

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

Mehron showcased their new foundation - Celebré Pro HD at The Make Up Show NYC and it instantly caught my attention. Oil and fragrance free, this cream foundation is formulated to be non-greasy and offers great coverage that is easy to build up. An added bonus is that it's supposedly suitable for all skin types as well as being rich in antioxidants such as vitamin E, pomegranate and aloe vera which all help to soothe the skin.

Celebrated industry make up artists collaborated with Mehron boffins to create an impressive range of shades - 20 in total, to suit all skintones. The foundation can either be bought individually by consumers or in a 20 colour palette for professional make up artists. Celebré Pro-HD claims to give the same great results whether it's used in a high fashion photoshoot, catwalk show or for just everyday use.

There are shades for everybody! *throws M&Ms in the air*

First impressions? I like! I like this a lot. I find the cream texture extremely easy to blend, it doesn't weigh down my skin, yet it's still easy to build up coverage as and where you need it. Shade wise, I find Dark 1 to be a better match for me than Make Up For Ever's liquid HD equivalent (177). It lasts well on me too, so far unfazed by the mid-afternoon shine my skin tends to project on a daily basis.

I happened to wear this last Wednesday, which unbeknownst to its residents was later recorded as the hottest day of the year so far in NYC - amazingly my face didn't look fit to fry a packet of bacon by 2pm!! Very impressive! I've been wearing this for over a week now and show no signs of putting it down. It covers up my blemishes with ease and compliments my MUFE Full Cover Concealer really well. I set it with either a MAC loose powder or I reach for my BECCA pressed powder when I'm out and about for convenience.

The packaging gets a thumbs up from me too, which is a screw top pot with a clear lid. It takes up far less space in my make up bag than a bottle does that's for sure! Hell, you can pop this in your pocket and skip out of the door! Want a size comparison? Hmm it's larger than a MAC CCB/mineralize eyeshadow and a tad smaller than a MAC blush. The pot contains 25 grams (9 oz) of product and at a guess, this should easily last me approx 4 months if I were to use it on a daily basis.

As yet, I don't know when this will be hitting UK shores. I contacted Guru Make Up Emporium on the off chance to see if they had it in stock so I could order a back up and the SA I spoke to had not heard of it - the UK's always late to the party! The Mehron website displays conflicting information in regards to international orders so I'm unsure whether you can buy it off the U.S site if you're outside the States.

Either way I'm sure it'll be in the UK soon and for the price $9.95 (approx £7 with the current exchange rate) it won't cost the earth if you decide to try the latest HD base that I'm confident will soon have an army of loyal fans singing its praises.

I haven't tried Mehron products as of yet. This sounds like something i'd try. I've been using Graftobian, MUFE HD & Face Atelier, and I'm satisfied with them all. Great Review!

Where can I find this?

Ellen1 said...

How do you apply it? Is it thick, heavy coverage?Do you need to blend it out with a wet sponge?

VexintheCity said...

@Young, Fabulous and Pregnant - I don't know who will be stocking it in the UK as yet. Keep checking with Guru Makeup Emporium & P.A.M if you're based with the UK - or Google other Mehron stockists.

@Ellen1 - I use foundation brushes. Coverage is medium-full depending on how much you layer on. You could use a sponge if you wish. it's up to you.

I emailed http://treasurehouse.sageshops.co.uk/index.php today to ask if they will be stocking this and they said:-

"Yes we will, none in stock at the moment, if you let me know any colours I will order in for you."

I can't decide what colour to choose, maybe the lightest in the medium range. In Bobbi Brown I am Warm Ivory/Warm Sand (depends on formulation). Any advice on a match?

@ten66s - I wouldn't have a clue which foundation shade would suit you better. I'm at the other end of the shade spectrum for a start and I'm no professional. Try asking the staff at Treasure House, they may be able to advise you better. Good luck x

Brilliant review! BTW Wayne (gossmakeupartist) just mentioned you and your blog in a video he just loaded up about this product.

@dianeuk01 - Glad you enjoyed it, I still think it's great and it's actually lasted longer than the 4 months I estimated it would.

Ahh that was nice of Wayne. I love him! :-)
