Sleek Makeup Nude Collection + Swatches

Tuesday, September 06, 2011

The Nude collection from Sleek recently landed on shelves, and I've finally gotten round to posting about it. Idon't know how Sleek do it - I thought the MAC collections were plentiful!

So anyway, as with previous collections the Nude collection is no different. We have a 12 shadow eye palette, a blush and a pout polish.

I'm not keen on this palette. I find the shades either too chalky or too muddy for my liking. If I were to use one of the darker shades, I'd most likely combine with a different colour in my stash altogether, which defies the point of using the palette. I don't think many words are needed. My swatches explain my disappointment with this offering from Sleek.

On the other hand, I like the blush Suede (£4.29), which is a warm, tawny mocha with peachy undertones. I didn't think it'd suit me, but it's pretty flattering on my NC50 skin tone and leaves a nice flush of colour. It's not as pigmented as past Sleek blushes I've tried and consequently, If you like a prominent flush of colour on your cheeks, then you'll need to put in some elbow grease with your blush brush! At first swatch it reminded me of MAC Gingerly and Eversun blushes. This can easily be used as a contour or for a healthy glow on the apples of your cheeks.

The latest Pout Polish (£4.29) in which goes by the name of Bare Minimum is a glossy nude with the usual jojoba, avocado and sweet almond oils. It goes on practically clear when I apply just a little and doesn't look that great when I apply it thicker as it just leaves a pale milky effect which clashes with my skin tone and doesn't look very attractive at all.

Bare Minimum applied 'thicker'.

Darker skinned ladies are better off using a nude lipgloss which is better suited to the pigment in your lips. Check out Sleek's alternative lip products here.

As always, you can find Sleek Makeup in Superdrug or online at www.sleekmakeup.com

I'm not really impressed with the palette, normally there are one or two stand out shades which are just beautiful, this palette however isn't that impressive - with it being the "Nude" collection I would have expected something similar to UD's Naked palette x

What a disappointment! And I have one on the way too. It looked darker than the previous neutral palette. Have you seen the previous one?

I agree with you - I am going to pass on this.

I love this palette. I'd say it's better than Naked palette as it has a good many matte shades.
I've around 10 sleek palettes and this is my favourite so far.
The Oh So special is a close second.
