I first came across the Make Up For Ever So Divine Moisturizing Cleansing Cream back in January, during a day trip to Paris. It was one of the make up removers of choice placed at the end of every aisle in the Sephora branch I visited. Just one swipe with a cotton wool pad removed all traces of the multiple make up swatches I had on my hand with ease, leaving my skin feeling soft and moisturised. I fell in love with it instantly and decided there and then that I had to have it.
I purchased it a week later at The IMATS, with a generous 35% discount off its RRP. Happy days!
This cleanser is a mineral oil-free, white cream that cleanses impurities and all types of make up and claims to remove waterproof makeup as well. It has been dermatological tested on sensitive skin and is also paraben-free. Sounds great so far, doesn't it?
After massaging it into my face, I have two removal options to choose from - either dabbing off excess product with a cotton pad or wiping it off with a small facial sponge, or so the instructions dictate. The usage instructions, by the way, I had to Google for myself because for some reason they're not on the back on the tube (!)
The first time I used this, I went through well in excess of 20 lightly dampened cotton pads in order to thoroughly remove my make up. Ridiculous. I did try once to rinse it off with water, but it became an oily mess, so try your best to remove as much make up as possible with dampened pads. If like me, you don't have the patience for this, then you will find issue with this removal method!
Also, if you're after that 'super clean' feeling when using this, then you'll be disappointed. I do not have the time or the resources to go through 20 cotton wool pads each time I want to use this use this as a main facial cleanser! I found that using a muslin cloth to remove it, was much more effective,. Even after using so many pads, I still washed my face with my beloved Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant just to ensure my face was really free of make up.
All is not lost though. After attempting to use it a few more times as MUFE suggest, I now only apply it directly to cotton wool pads, and remove the worst of my make up before cleansing and rinsing my skin as normal - so in total I'll only use say four to six pads now. As a quick make up remover, not an actual cleanser this gets a thumbs up from me.
This is perfect for those occasions where you're playing with your make up and have a million swatches all over your forearm and hand. It will remove your make up in a millisecond with one swipe and leave your skin feeling very hydrated - not dry like some face wipes will. If you're wearing heavy make up after a night out, again this will easily wipe off the majority off it quickly (no water required), requiring no forceful dragging of the cotton pad(s) across your delicate skin. You will need to cleanse again though if you can't bear to go to sleep with only 80% of your make up removed at 5am!
It makes skin feel soft and supple, thanks to its formula which is rich in moisturising, calming, softening and regenerative active ingredients.
Despite not meeting my expectations during my efforts to remove a full face of slap when attempting to use So Divine as a cleanser, I have no regrets purchasing it. I had no idea it even existed in the MUFE line until I saw it in Sephora and it's a welcome addition to my make up removal regime as I don't own any other product which allows me to remove make up whilst leaving my skin feeling so moisturised in the process.
You can find this over at Guru Makeup Emporium for £17.50
