I'm a bit obsessed with hand cream, much like I am lip balms actually. I'm very fussy about what I put on my hands and won't use any old nonsense which labels itself as a hand moisturiser. My hand cream of choice, needs to be rich, without feeling greasy and leave my hands feeling soft and well cared for.
I'd heard a lot about The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector. It's one of their best-sellers and curiosity got the better of me last summer, as I caved in and bought a tube.
What's there to say about it then? I won't drone on, but this is a bloody good hand cream! So good that I bought two more tubes today as it's currently on promotion for £5 each instead of it's usual price of £10.
This is super moisturising, rich, smells nice and continues to leave my hands feeling soft and smooth after prolonged use. On a typical day I probably slather hand cream on at least four times a day. It absorbs really well and is thick but doesn't leave a greasy residue behind.
The only thing I absolutely hate about it ..is the packaging! I don't want my hand cream to resemble a crumpled toothpaste tube at the bottom of my handbag and I live in constant fear that it will splatter all over the inside of my bag if something heavy lies on top of it and pierces the tube. Look at the photo I've papped to illustrate my point.
Packaging faux pas aside, I'd still recommend this - leave it on your desk at work or at home if you don't want to risk it being crushed in your handbag.
If you've never tried it before, now's a good time to try it with 50% knocked off its RRP. The SA instore said it would be returning to full price tomorrow. I don't know if she was telling the truth or not, or just telling me what I needed to hear as I was umming and ahhhing over whether to buy two tubes or just the one.
How much is it? £10 (100ml) - currently £5 instore on promotion!
Where can I buy it from? The Body Shop - instore and online.

14 beauty lovers have sumthin to say:
I ordered 2 last night, love the stuff! I got the foot one too as I wanted to try it out
I really like this cream, odd smell aside... The Foot cream is even better though... the best that I've come across x
I bought it at the weekend after someone recommended it on a post I did on hand creams. And yes, for a fiver! The scent is a bit odd and I completely agree with your description of the package but it definitely feels great to use especially as this bitter cold snap is ruining my mitts!
I think I'll be purchasing this soonish- my beloved Neutrogena concentrated is about to run out and this sounds like a brilliant alternative :) You could try depotting a bit into a small tub for your bag, I hate carrying around full sized tubes - my bag#s heavy enough as it is!

@Ane - The foot cream's meant to be really good!
@Sami/Sheenie - I don't even notice the smell you know LOL

I love this cream too....it's so good! x
I bought this a few weeks ago I love it!!
Huge fan of this cream!! I have used it for years BUT I also find if the foil gets to thin in one area it can break and leak. Not good at all!! The packaging needs to change!
I love this cream!
thanks for addressing the crumbled up toothpaste container issue. I use L'occitane's hand cream and it comes like this as well. I can already foretell the point where I'm trying to push out the remainder of its lush goodness. smh I think I may have to buy one of those hair dye key turners that push out the remaining dye out of the tube.
Totally agree with you the packaging doesn't look great x
