Whilst in the flagship Apple Store, a couple of months ago in New York, I spotted a black girl, wearing her natural hair out in the biggest 'fro, wearing blue lipstick. Her make up was flawless and I couldn't stop staring at her, as I stood in the queue. Her presence demanded your full attention and I was (and still am) convinced she was wearing Illamasqua's Apocalips lipstick. It looked A-mazing on her and made me think (just for a second) that maybe, I could look half decent wearing it too. Even the Mr had to admit that she looked good with it on.
A post on gossip blog, Necole Bitchie made me think about that girl again today and my thoughts on wearing such a dramatic, unusual colour on the lips.

I love Amber Rose at the best of times, and I think her lips look amazing here. She lets her lips do the talking, toning down the rest of her makeup and making them the focus feature in her look. Love it! There was another photo of her wearing a not-so-flattering blue lip, but I thought I'd focus on what she did right as it's such a difficult look to pull off in the first place. I'd love to know what this shade is, my guess is that it was conjured up with pro pigments of some kind.

I'm not feelin' this look at all. Teyana Taylor has gorgeous, full lips, but she does them no favours with this messily applied, unflattering light blue lipstick. I think she should have defined them with lip liner and chosen a deeper blue, which would have complimented her skin tone better, than the clown like application shown here.

I think it looks amazing on Amber Rose. I'm not brave enough to flaunt a blue lip for everyday wear but probably fancy dress I would lol x
I freakin' LOVE blue lipstick! I've worn Illamasqua 'Apocalips' and 'Disciple' on nights out before, it's a nice change from pink or red. There are a few pics on my blog if you're curious. The lipstick on Amber Rose looks like it could be a mix of OCC shades in 'Tarred' and 'RX'.

I read this post in a hurry and totally MISSED the sentence about Amber Rose and was thinking to myself "er..surely Yinka knows that that is Amber Rose".
It's alright though..I read it again and it all made sense!

To be honest i think it looks better if you wear a deeper blue like apocolips because it just looks better frosted blue just screams ewww :P

Oh yeah I would totally rock a blue lip. Get a colour right for my Simpson skin and I'm cool, it def is a nice chance like @Beauty's Bad Habit said!
