I was a huge fan of The Hills, and Lauren Conrad, although a little prim and proper at times, could do no wrong in the fashion stakes for me. I loved the clean, sophisticated, yet fashionable style she became famous for when the LA-based show ruled the airwaves.
Just the other day, I saw a random news story about her and wondered what she was up to these days, and I got my answer when a few days later I was contacted about her new beauty book.
Nostalgia swept over me when when my copy arrived in the post - Lauren was back! And the front cover didn't disappoint. She looks as groomed and immaculate as I last remembered her, strutting down the street as she left those jokers Heidi and Spencer's faux wedding!
Lauren Conrad beauty is split up into 12 chapters, covering everything from hair to nails, to skincare, diet and her signature cat eye look. She even has a chapter which focuses on party hair and make up. Make up looks (although not shade-specific) are easy to follow in a step-by-step process and the book makes an effort to cover a range of skin tones. It packs a lot into its 12 chapers and left more more impressed than I thought I'd be.
The book is handy for beauty novices, yet also contains tips, tutorials and information which will be of use to those a little more advanced in the beauty stakes. Inoffensive and practical, it delivers an obtainable impression of beauty and encourages the reader to embrace the most of their potential, without resorting to extreme measures. Needless to say this will make a great gift.

I had a look at her fashion book but I was not impressed so I doubt if i will be checking out her beauty book. I am sure the teens and 20 somethings will enjoy it. I much prefer her fiction books. I didn't know you were a Hills fan. I really miss the show, there has been nothing like it since.
