The Fragrance Shop has announced that its to launch a new club aimed at fragrance lovers, offering them samples and details on the latest fragrance launches.
Each quarter members of the Discovery Club will receive a special Discovery Club Box direct to their door, which will contain five samples of the latest fragrances, complete with info cards and exclusive discounts.
Subscriptions costs £5 per box, with four boxes being sent out per year. Each Discovery Box will contain more than £7 worth of fragrance as well as vouchers for £5 off each featured scent – a total of £25 in potential savings.
The first Discovery Club Box is out now and you can sign up for it here
Plans for a male Discovery Club Box are in progress, with an expected launch date in early 2013.
So what do you think of the latest ‘beauty box’ addition to the market then?
I can’t help but think this is quite insulting to shopper’s intelligence really. You can easily stroll around your nearest department store on a Saturday afternoon and come home with no less than 20 samples with minimal effort, and change in your wallet. The promise of a booklet offering me up to £25 off (if I happen to buy all five featured fragrances) doesn’t excite me in the slightest.
Nah…this just doesn’t work for me at all, sorry.

Are they having a laugh?
Hmm.. seems times are rough. People really trying to make money!! Haha.
I quite like the idea. I don't want to have to visit the department stores every time a new fragrance launches and get harassed. This way I can keep informed of the new fragrances and if I buy 1 fragrance each quarter (which I probably would anyway) then I get £5 off – thus making this a free service. It's a good idea as an additional service option and I appreciate not being tied in to a contract so I can leave the scheme when I want.
It doesn't get any funnier than this lol, new fragrances always have free samples@counters innit
definitely a big fat no to this box. magazines often have free samples and shops give them out all the time. kmt
