New Year beauty resolutions!

The new year is almost upon us, so it’s time for me to star over again *Stuffs the last chocolate truffle in my mouth*

Right, let me get straight to the point. I need to make some changes and those changes will be …

1. I will really try to take my make up off every night. Some nights I really struggle to do this menial task as I’m so tired and all I want to do is fall into bed instead of engaging in a 10 minute regime in a cold bathroom. Also, there’s no point in using all these great skincare products if I’m not doing my part and allowing them to work to their full potential.

2. I promise to drink at least 2 litres of water. Every day! My skin will thank for me it as it’s quite congested at the moment, what
with all the fatty, calorific food I’ve been gorging on over the festive period.

3. No point in drinking so much water if I’m still stuffing my face with crap. I’m gonna make a conscious effort to improve my diet and get fit. I used to be sooo fit but now I’m literally struggling to breathe after just walking up three flights of stairs! Not a good look at my age. I also know losing a few pounds will do wonders for my confidence and I’m sick of not wearing what I want to wear cos I feel so dumpy! *blows the dust of my Nell McAndrew fItness DVD* I’m definately gonna be joining a netball team as that was my sport of choice back at school and uni and it certainly kept my fitness levels up.

4. I will wear brighter lip colours a lot more. I haven’t ventured out of the front door wearing MAC So Chaud or Ruby Woo yet and I shy away from them thinking I look ridiculous. I really wanna step out of my safety net when it comes to my makeup in 2010, so will try my best to up my confidence and just walk out of the front door instead of pouting in front of the mirror.

5. I will stop buying so many blushers. For crying out loud the last count was 54! Enough. I only have 2 cheeks!!

6. I will experiment more with my hair.

7. I need to focus on my priorities so there won’t be as many frivolous “because I want to ..” purchases as there were in 2009. If I want to achieve what I need to, I need to stop buying so many cosmetics. I have more than enough to see me through to 2025! When I think about the money I spent last year, I do actually feel a bit sick!

8. I will master the application of false lashes.

9. I aim to pick ten different products to use at some point every week. I have so much make up that it’s easy for me to stick to the same products that happen to be in my make up bag and use them forever instead of reaching for new shades. I must make use of all the gorgeousness instead of admiring it from afar!!

10. Seriously, there is no reason to spend in 2010 as much as I did last year on make up. Over the past 12 months I’ve built up an impressive collection and I promise to make good use of it or to just get rid of what I no longer want. No hoarding! I will be much more selective and only purchase makeup that is unique in comparison to other items within my stash.

What about you ladies? Any beauty resolutions or are will you just take it one day at a time?

I really need to do the whole 'picking new products every week instead of using the same old favourites'. There's a big part of my makeup collection that I hardly touch and I should really stop neglecting it. Great post! Hope you have a good time tonight xx

Great post. I need to make sure I always drink enough water every day as I really notice a difference whenever I don't. I also want to find my ultimate moisturiser! I like your one about using ten different products, I might do something similar with some of my clothes that don't get worn often enough. Happy New Year!

I always laugh out loud when reading your posts! Good luck with all of those! My beauty resolution this year is to stop slumping in front of my computer (my bad posture will catch up with me one day, I just know it). Happy New Year!

Our resolutions were actually very similar! I too need to drink more water and spend less on 'because I want to' purchases also an amazing tip for the washing your makeup off at night is to buy those makeup removal cloths and take off your face makeup first…for some reason I find that once that is off washing just my eye makeup off isn't that big of a deal! And omg don't get me started on blush..definitely my favorite beauty product!!!

Happy New Year!! At the moment I only have two resolutions: lose some poundage (no more Ben & Jerry's or fast food) and stop drinking soda. I do like your #9 though, I feel I wear alot of the same makeup all the time and should switch it up if I'm gonna be buying new colors.

I have to agree with the keeping fit one…..I've gotten so unfit this year its shameful.

Oh and yinks, we all have four cheeks, but we cant bung blusher on our butts……even if we do have 54 !!!!

@lipglossiping …. took me 3 seconds to figure out “4 cheeks” but I'm still laughing.!

Yinka, 54 Blushes is impressive. That like a blush a week for the year and then some! We will be rooting for you sister soldier! 2010 is bound to bring some more fabulous collections…let's hope they aren't fabulous enough to tempt your money away! Happy New year!

  14. 31st December 2009 / 10:42 pm

I'm going to try my best to exercise more often and not try to use up all of my skin care products before buying more. I drink mainly water so I avoid soda at all costs since it makes me break out really bad.

  15. 1st January 2010 / 2:03 pm

I so agree with you on the gradual elimination of fatty snacks…I treid my best to gobble up the 8 packets of hula hoops, the 3 mince pies and the carrot cake before the New Year :l. Needless to say I failed but as soon as they are gone I will begin my new healthy routine :). Great post youve inspired me xx

  16. 1st January 2010 / 5:53 pm

Fab resolutions!! My main ones are to start saving more money, cutting back on those unnecessary buys and to be healthier; foods, drink more water etc.

Good luck, put your mind to it and i'm sure you'll succeed. All the best for the year ahead xx

  17. 1st January 2010 / 10:03 pm

I am there with you on the blushers!! I don't have as many as you; but I do have quite a few, and I don't use blush very often. (Maybe I need to start making a conscious effort to wear blush more often, the way I am with my eyeshadow…I'm slowly and methodically working my way through that stash.)

  18. 2nd January 2010 / 4:40 am

Can't wait to see you with some bright lips! Happy New Year! <3

  19. 2nd January 2010 / 3:42 pm

I so agree with you on 2, 3, and 7. especially the last 2. I have so much makeup, and the amount I spent in 2009 it's crazy! If I want to keep track of my goals for 2010, I need to cut down on the frivilous purchases..

  20. 3rd January 2010 / 10:18 am

  21. 3rd January 2010 / 11:38 am
