Before I was able to get my hands on a MAC Pro card (I signed up for one at the UK IMATS in January as they were signing up everybody and their granny), I was more cautious when it came to shopping at MAC as I’m the kind of person who likes to have something to show for the money they spend. Even with a Pro card in tow the most I ever usually spend in MAC is around the £70 mark and those hauls are usually done every few months.
I’ve just been making my list for Monday and I’ve chosen my Colour Craft bits and a few e/s pans and I’m at the £150 mark – WITH the discount! I haven’t even got to perm blushes and lip products yet. F@!$*!
I’m sitting here umming and ahhhing wondering if I should cut this list down. I can afford it, but that’s not the point. I just feel the money should be going on something more worthwhile, like sponsoring a monkey in the rainforest or something. I’m trying to justify this as I don’t really plan on buying anything else from MAC or anything else really until the Autumn collections launch and it’s all stuff that I’ll only end up buying anyway, so I may as well get it out of the way now right?? Spending £150 on clothes doesn’t really faze me, but on make up???? *groan*
What’s the most you’ve ever spent in a single haul on make up?
I'm having the exact same dilemma, i NEVER used to buy so much expensive makeup, little bits here and there i can justify but mine list for Colour Craft is working out about the £150 mark too and theres just no way i can do it!! BUT at the same time i think well i don't buy things from every single collection and i really REALLY love this collection in particular…ARGH!! I'm going to wait and see it in person i think and try and cut the list down. The key word there being TRY 😀 xx
Exactly I don't buy from every collection either! I love this collection so I want it all!! *Sighs* I feel better not being the only one struggling now! LOL
I'm struggling too as you know. Last year I would just buy practically an entire collection and that is not a good thing. I have so much makeup that I probably don't need to buy for a good two to three years. I am taking baby steps now and trying to be selective.
The most I spent was about £120 on Iman products, also spent similar amount on Fashion Fair and they gave me loads of freebies. I wish I had a pro – card that way I would but more mac

You are strong when it comes to makeup. This collection you have been waiting on and youve been passing on quite a few items cause you knew this one was coming. I would get what you want and then hopefully you will be satisfied for a bit. I know exaclty where you are coming from!
The most I've spent was about S$600, which is £253. >.<

Let me put your mind at ease. I've dropped on make-up in one go has been £420. Ask me now questions I will tell you no lies. So £150 in my head is totally do-able. Just make sure you use all the darn stuff…
I can agree. Hauls are great but i end up returning everythingggggggg because of false claims. Or if the payoff isnt what i expected. or i just realized i wanted to buy things jus tot buy it. THe most I spent happily on a haul was about 30 dollars. and it was for the essentials…. colors i didnt have, brushes i needed and some products to help my skin etc.

I would get all your must-haves from the collection so you won't regret missing them later. You can always buy the permanent things later on. Also, keep your receipt handy to return anything that ends up sucking which unfortunately sometimes happens. I don't like returning makeup, but if it doesn't make me happy, I don't need it! Hope everyone's input helps you just a little bit…

Ha ha, this post made me smile coz I knwo i am the same…I cut my list down, then add one thing, then another, then I'm back up to the same amount I started with. The most I have ever spent on a MAC haul is £150…I felt kinda guilty for 5 seconds and then when I received my haulage, I felt surprisingly ok again! If you can afford it, go for it. You only live once and if that's what you want to spend your hard earned money on, then I think you should do what makes you happy 🙂
£150 is not too bad you know. I have a friend who spends an obscene amount of money at Space NK and with a discount as well because one of our friends works there. I don't know how she manages to wear all of it! The most I've spent is about £100 in one go. This is after I lost my make-up bag and needed to replace a lot of the essentials that I could.not.live.without.
aww Yinka sponsor a money because youll get so much more for your money?! NOT!. I see what you mean though love it does seem a bit steep but you said you have been saving and budgeting etc. At the end of the day you will make the right decision. Normal folk will NOT understand your dilemna but hey thats what the beauty blog world is for.
I once spent £166 on brushes/palette and eyeshadows and when I walked out the store I felt so bad..I returned it the same day and bought exactly the same stuff the next week only at a 20% discount in Carnaby Street 😀
I got into make up quite late in life so it is something that I use rather sparingly. I would say I spend about £50 every three months; I am simply a foundation, lip glossy, eye shadow and mascara lady. My indulgence is lipgloss, I get through about ten post a year. I am addicted to it.
The most I've ever spent in a haul for a high end products is £45 and then it was only a foundation and some lip gloss and I got a free blush with it, yay!
I'd just make the list of as much as you can because in my experience, you won't end up buying half of it becuase the colour will be a bit out..but as the rest have said, if you've got the money to spend and you will use the stuff..buy it! I say this only because I once spent more than a grand on some sparkly heels which I have worn quite a few times

I try not to spend much in one go, but I'm realising my almost weekly MAC 'treat' is actually a rather expensive habit- my friend looked at my collection and quite rightly assessed- 'you have hundreds of pounds worth…' oh dear!!

I must admit I don't tend to do make up in bulk, just buy the bits I need when I run out, but I could easily do £150 in one go on MAC!
I do spend quite a lot on trips to Boots mind you when I have to stock up on all my toiletries, mainly moisturisers and eye creams, they all seem to run out together! I usually try to cover my ears and sing though when the assistant tells me how much…
