SKIN WOES? HELP IS AT HAND.

I’ve never been happy with my skin. From the first barrage spots in my early teen, to the hyper-pigmentation marks I appear to have inherited from my mother on my cheeks.  Spot scarring and now the fatigued and lacklustre look I’m sporting as a result of lack of sleep since my son was born! Yeah, I feel fabulous about myself at the moment, can you tell?!

Sk:n Clinics have 35 branches nationwide and offer a wide range of non-surgical procedures and I think they just have the answer to my skin woes. I’m currently on (yet another) health kick, determined to shift a few pounds and just take better care of myself in general. Improving my skincare is on my ‘to do’ list and the skin peels on offer at Sk:n may well have what it takes to give my skin a push in the right direction.

Skin peels work by removing dead skin cells and encouraging new ones to grow. They treat problems such as acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, sun damage and wrinkles.

Chemical peels are a highly effective way of freshening the skin and reducing the damage caused by ageing and exposure to the the sun. Sk:n offer mild glycolic and mandelic peels – both I believe would benefit my skin with regular treatments. As already mentioned, my main issues are the scarring I have from old (and newer) spots and the hyper-pigmentation on my face. Mandelic acid is reportedly effective on darker skin tones and as luck would have it, the pricier of the two treatments.

All peels work the same way, by rubbing the skin with a non-toxic chemical solution to remove the top layer. This promotes collagen production and cell renewal. It’s painless, although some peels can lead to light swelling  or peeling of the skin a few days after the treatment. It would just be my luck that I end up looking like The Elephant Man, but I’ll remain positive!

I had a glycolic peel a few years ago, and despite my better intentions I didn’t book further sessions, thus not giving my skin a chance to fully benefit from a full course of treatments. I’m determined to book a full course in an effort to give my skin the best chance of results.

I just want to look in the mirror make-up free and not shake my head at what I see. Surely that’s not too much to ask?!

Skin peels at Sk:n Clinic start from £40.

I'd had mine since I was around 12. Good to know it worked for you. I'm currently using their skincare x

Sandra – The cream cleanser? I have that. I have such an issue with cream cleansers though, my skin doesn't feel clean enough. I'm using Sk:n products at the mo and I'm quite happy with them so far. I'm gonna persevere 🙂
