My visit to Thai Square Spa back in 2012 is still memorable for all the right reasons, and I was delighted when the opportunity arose to experience another treatment at this gorgeous spa. Since my last visit, it has expanded and now occupies a spacious and impressive location, moments away from famous London landmark, Trafalgar Square.
As soon as I stepped into the bright, welcoming reception area, I knew I was in for a treat. The interior design and ambience is amazing, encouraging even the most stressed mind to switch off. I was led to the changing area, which is a communal room painted in bright red decor with an oriental twist. I was handed a gown, slippers to change into and there were numerous lockers to place my clothing and personal items in securely.
I was booked in to experience a traditional Thai Facial. I had no idea how this would differ from the usual treatment facials I was used to but I was confident it would be a fulfilling experience. I noticed I was the first client of the day and took advantage having the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and relaxation area all to myself. Tip: when visiting a day spa, try and arrive as early as possible in order to enjoy using the facilities before it gets busy.
The Thai Square Spa boasts a wide range of treatments and there’s even a hair and nail salon on site, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to pampering you from head to toe.
I enjoyed the tranquil settings and facilities for at least 45 mins before my therapist arrived and politely introduced herself before taking me to my treatment room, I took a moment to take in my surroundings, the room glowed in soft lighting with soothing music playing in the background. I was encouraged to ease my feet into a bowl of warm water peppered with rose petals, where my feet were gently cleansed and massaged. I was then left alone to disrobe and take my position under a large sheet on the massage bed, before my facialist returned and got to work.
The facial was excellent and it combined luxury organic skincare products with traditional application techniques. The massage style helped to maximise the benefits of the treatment. My facial included my decolletage and shoulders, all of which were thoroughly cleansed with aromatic smelling products. The cleansing process occurred several times and in between each time a hot towel was used to remove the product, which felt calming, soothing and therapeutic.
Once my facial was over, I was left to put on my robe and led back to the relaxation area (it’s huge) where I was offered water and tea and made the most of my time left. If you can’t resist, there’s even time for a quick social media fix as they offer free wifi too.
If you have yet to discover the Thai Square Spa in London, I fully recommend setting some time aside to visit the new Northumberland Avenue site. You will leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to tackle the winter months with a spring in your step.
