The Make Up Show NYC 2010 – in pictures.

As some of you know, I went to to The Make Up Show in New York for the first time, last weekend. It was celebrating it’s fifth anniversary and was similar to the IMATS in the sense that some of the brands I had seen at the London show in January were present.
I got there early, arriving just before 9am and met a couple of bloggers who were already in line. The biggest difference of the two trade shows was how organised it was. I was very impressed with how efficient the organisers and security staff were. There were no disgruntled faces or 2 mile queues of people waiting to pick up tickets weaving all over the place blocking entrances and exits as there were at The London IMATS.

It was another gorgeous sunny day in NYC!
The new OCC lip tar shades
I swear everybody rushed over to Make Up For Ever as soon as the doors opened! 40% off was not to be sniffed at! The HD blushes, foundations and new aqua creams flew off the shelves.
Crown Brushes – the calm before the storm!

BECCA were offering a 30% show discount, but I was very restrained. The Bombora palette was also available for purchase too. I recently tried their stick foundation, tinted moisturiser and pressed powder out. You can read my thoughts on them here.

Stila was ram-packed! I dunno why, cos when I finally got up close to see their wares, for me it was a case of “Oh? Is that it?”

Onto the next one…

Shu Uemera made their first appearance at the show and bought with them both their cosmetic and skincare lines as well as tools. They offered a 30% discount to be used online, which enabled customers to swatch to their hearts content and not have to worry about low stock levels should they arrive late to the show.

I was pleased to meet up with some of my fave U.S beauty bloggers too
Centre – Kraseybeauty
Makeup Fiend and Clumps of Mascara
Warren B and Erin Scandalous

I met so many fab people, I was seriously overwhelmed! I’ve met a lot of UK beauty bloggers over the past year, and it was so nice to be able to the same across the pond and meet so many in a two day period.

People were going crazy for Inglot!! I took these shot early on in the day. The next time I glanced over you’d have thought they were giving stuff away for free judging by the crowds of people at the stand!
MAC PRO at work …I think the body art was the most exciting aspect of MAC, as they had very little stock for sale which disappointed a lot of people.

Luminess Airbrush System in use ..

Eve Pearl was in attendence

Three Custom Color – a brand that allows you to recreate your favourite discontinued shades by either searching through their extensive archives or providing them with a sample. You can have your favourite eye, cheek, lip and foundation shadesgenius!

Face Atelier – not a brand I’m really familiar with, but I’ll be taking a closer look at the new foundations they were showcasing for WOC.

Armour lipglosses

Naked Pigments – I love how they intensify when used wet
Mario Badescu was popular and is a skincare line I’m looking forward to trying. I’ve read some positive reviews on some of his products, such as the Enzyme Cleansing Gel.
It wasn’t just the exhibitors who proved popular, the workshops and seminars were a hit too.
I had a great time, but was too exhausted to go back on Monday and do it all over again, although I wanted to take more pictures and check out some lines in more detail. I’ll be making full use of Google over the next few weeks to read up on certain brands. The venue was a great choice, which I thought was well sized for the exhibitors and visitors present.

There was confirmation that The Make Up Show, would be coming to Europe (location undecided as yet) in 2011, so watch this space!

Keep your eyes peeled for posts and swatches a plenty of some of the new products that I’m bringing home with me. I’m looking forward to next year’s show already!
