When people think of Ibiza, more often than not they picture the pulsating nightlife and people partying hard until the early hours. While this certainly does happen on the island, there is also a much calmer, peaceful and beautiful side of the island which makes it the perfect place for a chilled summer vacation.
Accommodation
The key to enjoying the quieter side of Ibiza is avoiding the party towns as the rest of the island is calm and beautiful. Instead, you should look to hire a villa from somewhere like Villa Plus. These are well situated so that you can easily get out and explore the island’s great natural beauty and head to the beach each day or simply relax in your own private villa and soak up the sun by the side of the pool.
Beaches
One of the best ways to experience the quieter side is to head to the family-friendly beaches that are dotted around the island. Here you can chill out on the beach with a good book while the kids frolic in the sea. There are a handful of beautiful, fun and safe beaches to check out during your stay, including Cala Bassa, Es Cana, Cala Vadella and Cala Llonga beach.
Food
Food is, of course, a hugely important part of any vacation and how you can experience the heart and soul of a destination. Away from the kebab shops in the party towns, Ibiza actually has a rich culinary scene with fresh seafood being a main staple along with traditional Spanish cuisine. There are plenty of family-friendly restaurants to choose from which serve up classics that the kids will like as well as local cuisine.
Natural Scenery
The northwest is a particularly beautiful part of the island and away from the party areas. There are plenty of vineyards in the area too so you can head here to sample the local wine and enjoy the stunning views of the island that you can enjoy from this area – the sunsets here are particularly impressive. There are also plenty of fun markets in the villages in this area too as well as good hiking opportunities if you want to get out and explore Ibiza’s rugged yet beautiful scenery.
Ibiza has a reputation as a hardcore party island which, understandably, puts off many people. While there certainly are parts of the island which are best avoided if this is not your style, there is another side to the island which many people are unaware of which makes it somewhat of a hidden gem. Away from the party towns, Ibiza is actually a very peaceful, serene and incredibly beautiful island. It is a great place for a family vacation with plenty to see and do in addition to relaxing on the alluring sandy beaches.
