The Baby Show, Excel,London - 21-23 February 2014.

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Calling new Mums and Mums to be! At a loss of what to get up to this weekened, then head down  to the London ExCel exibition centre between 21-23 February and visit The Baby Show, the UK's number 1 pregnancy and parenting event.

The Baby Show plays host to over 200 exhibitors, which include dozens of well and lesser known baby brands all under roof, selling their wares with one-off show prices a plenty.

Although I've been quite organised, preparing for our new arrival, there are still a few bits on my "Baby List" that need to be purchased, so I'll be heading down there to see what weird, wonderful and downright wacky products are on offer for my offspring.

Find brands such as Graco, Britax, Stokke, Uppababy, Mothercare, Kiddicare, Avent and many more. Watch product demonstrations, sit in on expert talks and be prepared to splash some cash!

Can't make the February show? Fear not, The Baby Show will be on the road setting up shop in Birmingham in May and back in London again, in October 2014 (more info on the official website)

Ticket prices are as follows:

Love Boo + Pregnancy Update #1

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

I'm 25 weeks pregnant (almost 6 mths now) have a sizeable bump now. I decided not to 'go public' sooner for good reason and wanted to get my anomaly scan at 20 weeks out of the way first, once I had peace of mind that my little one was developing properly and all was well, I felt more comfortable sharing my news on a wider scale. Thank you again for all your messages of best wishes and congratulations on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and my blog. They've been so lovely to read, thank you.

My beauty regime hasn't changed that much since becoming pregnant. I've always been an avid body moisturiser and so I just take an extra 30 seconds on my boobs and tummy as opposed to before. In my first trimester I noticed my face felt drier for say, a two week period but that quickly passeda nd my skin went back to normal.

I've been using the Love Boo range, amongst other body products for just over three months now and I'm pleasantly surpised. I first heard of this brand from a friend when she was pregnant almot two years ago. She'd discovered Love Boo at the The Baby Show and filled me in one lunchtime when I asked which if any, products she'd been using to ward off stretchmarks.

Hmm must book that window cleaner!

Review: H2O Plus Sea Salt Skin Smoother

Monday, January 13, 2014

Being wrapped up in extra layers all day, as well as having the central heating on for prolonged periods of time, means I'm taking extra care to stop my skin from dehydrated in this weather and I don't focus all my attention on my face.

I love a good body scrub and one that I've been using a lot lately has been the H2O Plus Sea Salt Skin Smoother. H20 Plus launched in the UK in 2012 and has a devoted following overseas and I can see why.

New Year, New Chapter...

Thursday, January 09, 2014

Whoa! It's been ages since I posted. I momentarily forgot my Blogger.com password, it's been that long!

How are you all? Hope life's treating you well and you had an enjoyable festive break. Life's been full of challenges and changes but I've come out the other end smiling. If you follow me on Instagram (VexintheCity), then you'll already be aware of what's most likely to be the biggest change to my llife as I know it.

I'm having a baby!

This is a post I've deliberated writing for a while. Those who know me, know that I'm quite a private person and in comparison to the average blogger, I'm wary of what I reveal about my private life through my blog. I've always preferred to keep the two separate.

With that said, I'm in a really good place right now, am deliriously happy and just want to share that happiness with those I know will genuinely wish me the best.

I'm super excited for what the future holds, speak to my growing bump all the time (especially since we're now at the stage, where baby can actually hear what's going on, in the outside world) and can't wait to meet my little prince - yep, I'm having a boy :-)

Vex in the City was pretty much abandoned for the vast majority of 2013. It was near on impossible to focus on my blog due to personal reasons and it fell off the radar completely.

I'm in a better frame of mind for blogging now and hope to post regularly once again. I'll be honest though, I'm not as manic over make up as I once was, my priorities have somewhat shifted since I started writing this blog almost five years ago, but I still own a make up collection to rival most!

As well as cosmetic and skincare posts, I'll be switching it up a bit and posting about other topics which interest me, which range from spa, restaurant and travel to cake receipes. Yes, I want to get my bake on, this year! There may be the occasional baby update post too, but I promise not to turn into a baby bore!

Illamasqua #Creators Collection

Saturday, October 05, 2013

Back in November 2011, I received an intriguing email from Alex Cummins from Illamasqua, which asked if I would be interested in working on a project with the brand. Not much was given away and it wasn’t until I’d confirmed my interest, that the plan was revealed. I was to be one of four people chosen to create a product for its first blogger collection.

Illamasqua are a brand who in its first five years have received huge support aided by the influence of beauty bloggers and social media alike, and wanted to celebrate their success with an online partnership. The #Creators collection not only celebrates an amazing five years for a unique brand who have pushed through a  message which thorougly encourages self expression and acceptance but also the bond formed between brand and blogger.

Now I didn't embark on this journey on my own. I had the pleasure of working with fellow social media contributors, and they are:

A Visit to the Errol Douglas Salon

Thursday, September 26, 2013

The last time I had a weave installed, was 12 years ago and I looked like chat show host Tricia Goddard, on a bad hair day. If you recall the bulky, shapeless weaves Tricia Goddard would wear on her chat shows, then you can understand what I was subjected to wear on my head for the best part of 48 hours, before I could take no more and ripped it out! Needless to say, I refused to walk down that weavy path again, until now.

I was invited down to hair connoisseur Errol Douglas' hair salon in Knightsbridge, where I had a full closure weave installed. I was left in the trusty hands of Eve Owusu, senior stylist and afro technician, who immediately made me feel at ease.
