It’s been a while since I graced the doors of Sephora, Rickys, Walgreens, et al and boy do I miss it. You may have read my recent posts detailing my Colourpop and Make Up Artist’s Choice products. I also (finally) bought the make up bag I’ve wanted for over a year from the Sephora site. I was pretty restrained actually, and didn’t go crazy at all.
Thanks to MyMallBox, a virtual mailbox company based in Delaware, I was able to purchase them, take advantage of the individual site’s free U.S shipping and have it all delivered to me here in Blighty, for one affordable charge. MyMallbox deliver worldwide, so almost everyone can get in on the action and receive their most wanted beauty items!
All you need to do is sign up free, to MyMallBox, who will issue you a U.S mailing address, situated at their huge warehouse in Delaware. When you place your order on a U.S site, you’ll use this address as your delivery address. MyMallBox will then notify you as each one arrives. The weight each order is also displayed too, which is great if you want to opt for a particular shipping option.
Alternatively, you can use their VIP service, and allow them to shop on your behalf. You simply enter the URL of your chosen items, for a small handling ($4.50) and transaction fee ($3) into the Buy For Me section.
Because MyMallBox are based in Delaware, you don’t have to pay sales tax on any of your orders either! Yay!
You have 90 days in which to ship your items from the warehouse to your delivery address in the UK. I love the flexibility of this, great for if you need to purchase that limited edition palette you just know will sell out but want to take your time deciding what else to order from other websites.
In order to cut down your shipping costs further, you have the option of consolidating your orders into one package. Other companies charge for consolidation, so it was a no-brainer to go with them as the comparison table on the site clearly shows they give great value They’ll remove the outer packaging but leave your purchased items in their original branded packaging.
When you’re ready to ship you instruct MyMallBox, who will get your parcel ready within 24-72 hours, depending how busy the warehouse is. You then select your shipping option. Shipping costs vary and being the cheapskate I can be at times, I opted for the USPS non-tracking one. My shipping cost approx £15 and my parcel arrived in 2.5 weeks. I wasn’t in a rush for it, so that suited me fine. The main carriers available to you at checkout are typically Fedex, USPS, and DHL
Will you be charged at customs once your package arrives in the UK? How long is a piece of string?! It depends on a number of factors; how heavy your parcel is, the value of it, (oh, there’s an option for you to enter the value of your order, when you check out or you can leave it blank), if the guy at Royal Mail who scans it in, is in a good mood that day!! It’s the luck of the draw! I was charged £12 – could have been worse! I didn’t pay for any U.S shipping when I placed my orders, so wasn’t too miffed.
