From the effects of the sun to the environment we live in – we’re constantly facing daily aggressors that can damage our skin. Since I embarked on performing regular skin peels at home, ensuring I protect my skin against UVA and UVB rays is more important than ever.
Until recently I was alternating between two Murad SPF30 moisturisers, which I liked, but I was keen to try a moisturiser which gave me a higher level of SPF protection.
The main issue I’ve had in the past, with sunscreens that are higher than SPF30, is that they’re thicker in texture so take forever to absorb and then I’m left with an unsightly white cast on my face! So even if I wanted to leave the house make-up free, I couldn’t because I was channelling Casper the Ghost!
I was browsing on The Body Shop website last week after receiving a newsletter email and stumbled on their new moisturiser, Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF50. I couldn’t believe my luck and excitedly clicked to read more about it.
This is an affordable daily moisturiser which offers you ultimate protection:
- UVA Protection: PA++++: Hels protect skin from UVA rays, including long UVA rays, which reach deep within the skin and accelerate the process of skin ageing.
- UVB protection: SPF 50 helps protect skin from UVB rays that trigger redness and damage the skin’s surface.
- Anti-oxidant: Helps protect skin from external aggressors such as environmental pollution that weakens the skin’s ability to remain healthy.
- Anti-dullness: With red algae extract and vitamin C to brighten skin for a more luminous complexion.
I was sold and quickly went about ordering myself a tube. You know what I love most about this Skin Defence SPF50? It doesn’t leave a white cast on my face, which I was worried about. I can’t believe it, this is a massive deal for me. When I applied it for the first time, I mumbled “Hmmm let’s see..” under my breath, fully expecting to be disappointed, but I was stunned to see it disappear before my eyes!
Its feather-light, milk-to-water formula works really well and doesn’t leave my skin feeling parched. My makeup goes on smoothly and it keeps my skin feeling hydrated all day. I’m a big fan of this and it will most definitely be repurchasing. In fact I’ll go as far to say that this will now become my main day moisturiser for the foreseeable future.
It’s not mega cheap but won’t leave you in rent arrears or falling behind on the mortgage either! I think this is actually a great value product as a quick Google will show you what you’d typically fork out for, for an SPF50 moisturiser. I’ll let you into a secret. I actually bought this off an eBay seller who was flogging them for a tenner, but as was expected, they’ve now sold out. Having now tried it out for myself, I have no problem paying full price for it.

This is so smart im like you i hate using high SPF because of that very reason its hard to rub in and it leaves you with that white cast i need to try this!

There’s an offer now to get 3 products for the price of two in their shops, a good one if you want to get it. I got vit e cleanser, vit e face mist and this spf 50 moisturiser for £26, so not a bad price at all. I love that it doesn’t leave that white film on your face.

Oh that’s a good deal. I’m pretty obsessed with The Ordinary skinacare atm so I’m good for skincare for the timebeing. I’d totally buy 3 of the moisturiser though and yes, the fact it doesn’t leave a white film is amazing!
